OMC4 Maintenance Facilities

This project will develop operation and maintenance facilities (OMC4-MF) to support approximately 145 SkyTrain cars. As per its Phase Two Investment Plan, TransLink has committed to the largest expansion of its SkyTrain fleet in over a decade. Without OMC4-MF, TransLink would not be able to safely operate and maintain its expanded fleet. OMC4-MF will be situated next to a planned vehicle storage facility (OMC4-VSF), which is funded as part of the ICIP EMUP Project. Proposed scope of OMC4-MF is incremental to OMC4-VSF and includes new facilities and incremental systems, utilities, and infrastructure, together with technical and systems integration. OMC4-MF scope includes: - Vehicle cleaning and inspection facilities with two proposed bays and one wash track; - A maintenance shop for vehicles with approximately five maintenance bays (and provision for a future sixth maintenance bay), upper office space and indoor storage; - A maintenance shop for other rail borne equipment with a warehouse and work bays, to support maintenance of the expanded rail network; - Incremental internal roads, parking, administrative and security space required by the significantly increased presence of maintenance staff; - Other incremental infrastructure and systems required for the new maintenance facilities, such as natural gas and power connections, and retaining walls, and to physically integrate with the new vehicle storage facility and the existing rail network.
