On-Demand Transit

The project consists of purchasing and installing enhanced technology and software for on-demand scheduling on 10-15 micro-transit vehicles in the City of Cornwall, Ontario. “On-Demand” allows passengers to schedule shared rides on micro-transit buses, using their smartphone, personal computers, or by calling a transit dispatch operator. The software will be installed on micro-transit buses, as well as on a public access portal, and provides direct route service. The project costs include the one time cost of software and licenses. The project meets the outcome of improved quality and/or safety of existing and/or future public transit; will help improve system reliability, safety and efficiency; increase ridership; as well as reduce operating costs, and congestion.
