• The project will implement intelligent transit system hardware and software to introduce new, on-demand services to areas that are currently underserviced and where ridership on conventional transit is low. The project will also improve services for early morning and late night customers in low ridership areas via on-demand service, as well as enhance the quality of the transit system overall by reassigning underutilized buses to busier routes. • The project scope includes procurement and implementation of an intelligent transit system technology solution, consisting of both hardware (dispatching/automatic vehicle location devices for up to 20 vehicles) and software components, to manage the on-demand service, as well as communications and branding for the new on-demand service. • The project will result in improved capacity, quality, safety and access to the public transit system in Burlington, Ontario.
