Description | The Jean Monnet Module is a three-year course project at the European University Viadrina that builds on both lectures and practical activities such as organising debates with stakeholders, conducting interviews with experts, creating websites and website contributions. These courses are at master level. The target group is diverse, with students benefiting first, but experts, other researchers, the local community and journalists will also be invited to participate. The debates organised by the students will be attended by migrants and refugees who will learn more about the values and principles of the EU. On the urging issue of social cohesion of Europeans and immigrant populations. The seminars included in the course programme will address the question of how to guarantee equal opportunities and peaceful coexistence in Europe despite increasing diversity including in religion and beliefs. Specifically, this is the so-called onboarding process, a term which originates from the field of integration of an employee into a new company. Likewise, with newcomers from outside Europe, or with intra-European migrants, it is important that they have a European onboarding that guarantees them a better life and the opportunities that Europe offers. The aim of the students will be to search for good practices for such a process and to discuss solutions with politicians with decision makers from the students' countries of origin. A project website will show the results of the course in terms of good practices in involving migrants in participation and social life in the host country in Europe. It will include interviews with decision makers and debates conducted during the courses. Moreover, also the main conclusions of the courses will be summarized on the webpage for the general public. |
