One Canadian Economy Act (Bill C-5)

Planned

The One Canadian Economy Act, or Bill C-5, is legislation introduced by the Canadian government to create a list of major nation-building projects and fast-track their approval by cutting through regulatory barriers. The bill grants broad powers to a designated minister to list projects and issue conditions for builders, aiming to speed up projects such as energy transmission lines, critical mineral developments, pipelines, and clean technology projects. It includes provisions that limit the authority of federal regulators and allows exemptions from laws and regulations for projects deemed in the national interest.
