One from the Heart is an independent films distribution company established in Athens in 2011. We have established our name as a prestigious distributor of quality films in the Greek market and have managed to distribute titles critically acclaimed and commercially appealing. Most of our slate (around 80%) each year is comprised of European non national films, focusing mainly on new emerging filmmakers. Our steady goal every year is to acquire high quality European films in a very competitive environment. Our expertise and background show that during our fourteen years presence in the Greek market we always manage to acquire and successfully release critically acclaimed and festival awarded films from the most prestige showcases such as Cannes, Venice and Berlin. The majority of our acquisitions are fiction films but we acquire documentaries as well. For example, we successfully released Agnes Varda and JR’s Oscar nominated documentary Faces Places and La Panthère des Neiges. Each year we release 8 to 9 films. Our acquisitions include En Fanfare (Cannes Premiere, Audience Award San Sebastian Film Festival), Dahomey by Mati Diop (Golden Bear, Berlin Film Festival), Afire (Silver Bear Berlin Film Festival), Le Otto Montagne (Jury Prize Cannes film Festival), Godland (Best Film San Sebastian Film Festival), Saint Omer (Silver Lion & Lion of the Future Venice Film Festival), Quo Vadis Aida? Best European Film of 2021 European Film Awards, films awarded with the Grand Jury Award (Compartment No6), Camera d’Or (Las Acacias, Jeune Femme, Nuestras Madres), Europa Cinemas Label (Loveable, Hypnosen, A Chiara), to mention a few. Furthermore, our films have often been shortlisted for the LUX Award of the European Parliament (Dahomey, Julie Keeps Quiet, Quo Vadis, Aida?, A Peine J’Ouvre les Yeux, Western). Four of our films (Le Ravissement, Saint Omer, A Perdre la Raison and Tour de France) have won the main award of the Francophone Film Festival.
