Description
Description | The project One Hundred Years of Humour in European Literature aims to promote the literary genre of humour that has been so often devalued. For this project, we selected six books that demonstrate how satire and humour can be used to talk about all possible topics. There are literary works that use humour to address political issues, prejudice against gender, social discrimination, etc. In addition, we have orchestrated the plays in such a way that a historical journey can be made through them. The project fits perfectly into the line of La Fuga Ediciones, which is specialized in the publication of quality novels with a touch of humour. We have a book that deals with post-war humour. The book Můj obchod se psy a jiné humoresky of Jaroslav Hašek, author of The Good Soldier Švejk, shows the consequences of the world war and its impact on people's everyday life. We also have a work in which humour is used as a weapon against fascism. We can point out the humour of Kurt Tucholsky in Deutschland, Deutschland über alles, where he satirizes the Weimar Republic. On the other hand, there is Diario Clandestino where the author, Giovannino Guareschi, uses the humour to escape from experienced in the German prison camps. In the case of contemporary humour, we have chosen to include three female authors to give more weight to the voice of women in this genre. Irena Douskova, an expert writer on Jaroslav Hašek, offers in her book Medvědí tanec a chronicle of the last days of the Czech author's life, imitating his sharp and witty style. Chloé Delaume deals the humour from a female perspective in her book: Les Mouflettes d’Atropos. Finally, Margarita Karapanou uses the absurd and the wildest satire in her book: Ο υπνοβάτης. The story is a critique of society and man's relationship with nature and the divine. In this way, we can say the project has an organic character that covers a century of very diverse humorous literature and where the authors touch on different styles. |
