Description | The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has introduced a one-time relief mechanism to unlock 22 GW of blocked interstate transmission capacity tied up in old Letters of Award (LoAs) without finalized Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). This mechanism provides developers with four options to resolve delays and optimize grid usage, including exiting the state-backed LoA route, replacing stalled LoAs with active PPAs, surrendering unused grid connectivity, or continuing under existing regulations. The released capacity will be allocated to ready-to-commission projects and through premium-based auctions, with revenues used to reduce transmission charges. |
