One West End Redevelopment

The One West End redevelopment is a $450 million project aiming to transform the 12-acre Mall West End site in Atlanta into a mixed-use affordable housing and commercial hub. The project includes plans for up to 1,000 residential units, a 150-room hotel, and 120,000 square feet of retail space. It is backed by financial assistance from the city of Atlanta, which helped the developers acquire the property for $29 million. The redevelopment will preserve nearly a third of its residential units at below market-rate rents and reserve about a third as student housing, near the Atlanta University Center Consortium. The project involves tearing down existing mall structures and creating a four-block grid to encourage pedestrian activity. Demolition and construction timelines are being finalized, with the first phase expected to be delivered by March 2029. Temporary relocation of four longtime mall tenants is planned to allow continued operation during redevelopment.
