Description | The Lower Don Bridge is a steel network tied arch bridge designed to carry two subway tracks over the Don River and Don Valley Parkway in Toronto's east end. It spans 120 metres, is 13.7 metres wide, and rises 24 metres at its highest point. The bridge is part of the Ontario Line subway project and is designed to accommodate future redevelopment of the surrounding area, including the East Harbour Transit Hub. The tied arch design avoids the need for piers in the river or roadway below, addressing flood risks and subsurface conditions. Construction methods were adapted due to site constraints, avoiding extensive falsework or off-site assembly. |
