Description
Description | The project involves the redevelopment of a 155-acre waterfront property called Ontario Place in the heart of Toronto, Canada. The project covers approximately 50 acres of publicly accessible space, including beaches, trails, playgrounds, gardens, plazas, and an upgraded marina—accessible free of charge all year. A relocated Ontario Science Centre will be integrated into the restored Pod complex and iconic Cinesphere, delivering immersive and educational exhibits. Entertainment offerings will be significantly enhanced through a revitalized year-round Live Nation amphitheatre, while Therme Canada will develop a large, all-season spa and indoor waterpark on West Island, complemented by a public beach and wellness facilities. The redevelopment also includes substantial infrastructure and environmental improvements, such as upgrades to utilities, flood mitigation measures, soil remediation, shoreline restoration, and the introduction of Indigenous-informed design elements. To support accessibility, connectivity enhancements are in progress—including a 3,500-space publicly owned parking structure, improved transit links to GO and the Ontario Line, cycling routes, pedestrian access, and wayfinding systems. |
