Youth information is a key tool for empowering young people, enabling them to make informed decisions, and fostering their active participation in democratic life. In today’s increasingly digital and globalised world, the need for youth information is greater than ever, particularly in building media and information literacy to address disinformation and other global challenges. The European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (ERYICA) is an independent international NGO, founded in 1986, with the mission of strengthening European and international cooperation in the field of youth information. ERYICA is committed to developing, supporting, and promoting high-quality youth information services and policies. Central to its work is the European Youth Information Charter, which provides the foundational principles and shared values for youth information services across Europe. With 42 members in 26 countries, ERYICA’s network connects over 3,900 local youth information services, supported by more than 7,620 youth workers and 31,600 volunteers. These services reach over 5.2 million face-to-face visitors and over 100 million online visitors annually, demonstrating the wide-reaching impact of ERYICA’s work on young people throughout Europe. As a key partner in promoting EU priorities, ERYICA plays an active role in aligning its activities with EU strategies and initiatives. The agency engages in consultations with EU stakeholders, participates in EU campaigns and programmes, and promotes the dissemination of EU policies and research. ERYICA contributes to achieving the EU Youth Strategy, the European Youth Work Agenda, the European Youth Goals, and is an active participant in initiatives such as the European Youth Portal, the Erasmus+ programme, the European Solidarity Corps (ESC), DiscoverEU, the European Green Deal, and the EU Digital Education Action Plan.
