The pre-study is to identify utility users and uses of the data-based prehospital resource optimisation model developed at Umeå University, in order to be able to further develop and extend the model to Ostrobothnia’s landscape summer. The project aims to optimise the first phase of care chains, emergency care and medical transport, in the large area of Ostrobothnia-Västerbotten. The innovative part of the project is the use of big data and AI in the planning and optimisation of medical transport (dynamic placement of ambulances, helicopters and landing plates; planning of driving routes, staffing of medical transport, possibly also placement of hospital shelters). The Swedish co-applicants have already planned and started work on Swedish data, but renewed social/health systems and the region’s EGTC status indicate that the models should be built for the entire Kvarken area.
