Description

Description

The project addresses an upgrade of the 4,43 km long double-track railway line on section Havířov – Havířov střed (including the Havířov railway station) from km 16.070 to 20.500. It is located on the Rhine-Danube Core Network Corridor. The project addresses a pre-identified cross border rail link (Hranice-Zilina) listed under part III of the Annex to Regulation 2021/1153. The project covers the upgrade of the tracks, reconstruction of both island platforms, bridges and the underpass. The Havířov střed railway station will be incorporated into the station perimeter. The overall objectives of the project are the following: - to remove a bottleneck on the section of the Rhine/Danube corridor, - to increase the maximum line speed from the current 60-100 km/h to 100 km/h, - to ensure the required interoperability and technical parameters (i.e. 22.5 t axle load, D4 line load class and UIC GC spatial clearance), - to enhance the safety of railway transport and passengers, - to ensure accessibility of railway transport for persons with reduced mobility, - to improve the technical condition and parameters of the railway station, The implementation of the project will result in increased capacity of the railway line and shortening of travel times for passengers and freight. This will lead to increased transport volumes and modal shift, thus generating positive socio-economic benefits for the region and the Member State.
