Economic/Social Impact of the Project Sikkim is 100% certified organic State. The elevation of Sikkim ranges from 280m MSL to 8586m MSL. The annual average rainfall of Sikkim is 3000 mm and the temperature varies from 7° to 28° C. The climate range in Sikkim varies from Sup tropical to Tropical to Temperate Climate and supports variety of vegetables such as Brinjal, chilies, tomato, capsicum, French beans, cowpea, etc , the majort fruits grown are guava, lime, lemon, mango, mandarin, plum, peach, pear, apple, papaya, kiwi, avocado, pineapple, strawberry, etc. Spices: Large cardamom, ginger, turmeric, red cherry pepper, bay leaf, etc. Flowers: Orchids, gladioli, gerbera, anthurims, lilliums, asters, marigold, carnation, etc. Cereals: Maize, rice, finger millet, wheat, barley, buckwheat, etc. Pulses: Urad, rice bean, cow pea, rajma, etc. Oil seeds: Soyabean, mustard, etc. Livestock faming: poultry, piggery, goat rearing, pisiculture, yak herding, sheep rearing, etc. Fruits to produce fruit pickles, jams, jellies, juices, marmalades, squashes, etc. Vegetables products such as vegetable pickles, soups, dried/salted preservation, etc. Cereals can be Packaged and Preserved. Pulses can be used for preparing Sattu, flour, papads, health drinks, etc. Spices widely used for Spice powder, aromatic oil, natural flavors, etc. Flowers are used for extraction of Natural dye, perfumes, cosmetic products, etc. More than 10000 local entrepreneurs/MSMEs/cooperative societies, SHGs and civil societies are operational in Sikkim to take up project components.
