Description | The Orokolo Bay Industrial Sands Project in Papua New Guinea's Gulf Province is a magnetite sands mining and processing project. Pacific Lime and Cement Limited has partnered with PowerChina PNG Limited to finance, build, and operate the project. PowerChina will fund, construct, operate, and market the product on an accelerated schedule targeting first cash flow in 2026. The project aims to produce high-grade magnetite with an initial capacity of about 300,000 tonnes per annum, with potential to increase to 500,000 tonnes per annum. The project also explores processing critical minerals such as vanadium, titanium, and zircon, and downstream opportunities in iron and steelmaking. |
