Description
Description | The OVCY III & IV project is aimed at orphans and vulnerable children and young people (OVCY) between the ages of 15 and 24 in the catchment area of the community care centers (CCC) financed in the OVC I & II program phases in the provinces of Limpopo, North West and KwaZulu Natal. The young generation in South Africa is particularly affected by the social and socio-economic consequences of the HIV and COVID-19 pandemics. State social benefits and programs usually end when the child reaches the age of 18. The aim of the project is therefore to support orphans and vulnerable children and young people in their development into independent and responsible adults and to promote their integration into the labor market and society. To this end, the project includes a broad range of support and promotional measures (hard & soft skills). The total cost of the project is around 15 million euros. The FC funding contribution of EUR 13 million is made up of EUR 5 million from the OVCY III phase and EUR 8 million from the OVCY IV phase. The DSD provides the funding contribution for the operating costs of the community centers as well as the project management costs of the operator amounting to around EUR 2 million. The funding period for the individual community centers is 3 years. The training measures will initially be piloted and tested in 6 centers under the OVCY III phase and then gradually transferred to the other 11 CCCs in the OVCY IV phase. This results in an implementation period of around 4 years. |
