Oryahovo ferry terminal concession

In November 2005, the Bulgarian Transport and Communications Ministry awarded a 25-year concession to Slanchev Dar JSC for operating and modernizing the Oryahovo ferry terminal. The Oryahovo terminal was located at the Lom port on the Danube River. The concessionaire, Slanchev Dar,was mainly a wholesaler of grain, seeds and animal feeds. It committed to invest approximately $2.12 million in the Oryahovo terminal during the concession period and also agreed to pay $6,003 annual concession fee. The concession attracted the two bidders: the Greek real estate and construction group GEK S.A and Slanchev Dar (Varna based). The concession on the Oryahovo terminal was one of the two dozens port terminal concessions offered by the Bulgarian government to transfer state-administered activities to private management. Slanchev Dar bid for the Svishtov ferry terminal concession as well.
