Osprey Village Sidewalk Project

The project consists of a 0.58 km long concrete sidewalk with curbs and gutters as well as marked pedestrian crossings along Nathan Cirillo Road and Pine Grove Road in Osprey Village in the community of Cookville in Lunenburg. The Osprey Village area was originally conceived as a commercial hub and was not developed with pedestrian infrastructure such as sidewalks and marked pedestrian street crossings. The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg is undertaking several investments to further support the residential and commercial success of Osprey Village. Residential growth is expected to continue with the new retirement Living Complex (200 units currently under construction) and the potential for 500 residential units being constructed over the next 5 years, including a number of affordable hosing units. By 2027, Osprey Village will be home to over 900 residents within walking distance. The sidewalk project will link the Ecole de la Rive-Sud francophone Acadian school, a future community hub, the Municipal administration building, and a retirement living complex that’s currently under construction with the commercial section of Osprey Village as well as support safe pedestrian travel that’s becoming a necessity with increased residents and senior populations.
