The objective of this proposal is to develop a slate of internationally appealing films that merge diverse genres, stories, and creative talents from Europe and beyond, fostering collaboration with both European and non-European partners. The slate includes two key feature projects: Running with Beasts, a coming-of-age thriller set in Lebanon, The Hour Between Dog and Wolf, a road movie exploring masculinity in Central-Eastern Europe, and a short film Last Night of the Year, that captures a single night in the lives of characters navigating personal crises amidst the chaos of New Year's Eve. All three projects tackle universal themes such as identity, survival, self-discovery, and human connection, but are deeply rooted in their local cultures, making them relevant to both regional and global audiences. Importantly, all the films are directed by female debut or emerging directors, highlighting fresh voices in the international film landscape. To achieve this, we will engage in co-productions with experienced partners from Slovakia, Poland, France, Germany, Sweden, Brazil, and Lebanon drawing on their expertise to expand the films' creative and market potential. By working with established filmmakers, sales agents, and distributors, the slate is designed to maximize its visibility in international markets and film festivals. The genre-driven approach, particularly in Running with Beasts and The Hour Between Dog and Wolf, will further differentiate the films, making them appealing not only to festival circuits but also to wider audiences via streaming platforms. This proposal aligns with the goals of the Work Programme by promoting cross-border collaboration, supporting emerging talents, and enhancing the circulation of European works internationally. By embracing both European and non-European perspectives, the films contribute to cultural diversity while targeting new markets, ensuring sustainability and a long-term impact on the global audiovisual landscape.
