Outback Water Facility Expansion

The City of Bend is preparing for a major expansion of its Outback Water Facility, an estimated $50 million project aimed at keeping up with the city’s rapid growth and ensuring safe, reliable drinking water for years to come. The project includes new pretreatment systems to improve water quality, additional reservoirs and wells, in-conduit hydroelectric generation, a wildfire water fill station, and security upgrades to meet federal standards. The city is also working to acquire 48 acres of nearby Deschutes National Forest land through the Townsite Act to facilitate the expansion.
