Description | The Overberg Wind Farm Phase 1 is a 242-MW wind power project in South Africa. It involves the installation of 39 Goldwind 6.2-MW smart wind turbines designed for South African wind conditions. The project is owned by South African independent power producer Red Rocket and is expected to reach commercial operations in early 2027. It will become South Africa's largest privately developed single wind farm once fully commissioned. A 20-year power purchase agreement is in place with Rio Tinto Ltd's subsidiary Richards Bay Minerals for 230 MW of the output. |
