The existing central plant houses the original heating and cooling equipment, the cogeneration plant, and the medical gas systems for the hospital. The equipment past their useful life and cannot be made to comply with emissions regulations. This project will be executed in several phases, starting with critical equipment requiring immediate replacement. The engineering challenge is to maintained the plant operations while performing the phased critical equipment replacement. The heating system will need to be replaced with traditional boilers once the cogenerating plant is decommissioned.
