Description | The Pachwara South Open Cast Project is a coal mining project operated by Neyveli Uttar Pradesh Power Limited (NUPPL), a joint venture between NLC India Limited and U.P. Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited. The project involves mining coal from a block with extractable reserves of 264.84 million tonnes and a normative mining capacity of 9 million tonnes per annum. Coal production commenced on March 29, 2026, following overburden removal that started on December 19, 2025. The coal produced will supply fuel to the 3 x 660 MW Ghatampur Thermal Power Plant in Uttar Pradesh. |
