Description | The Pacific Coast Intermodal Port project is a planned container shipping terminal near Coos Bay, Oregon, designed as a direct ship-to-rail facility. It will handle cargo transported by rail lines extending beyond Coos Bay into Lane County, including through Veneta and Eugene. The project is a public-private partnership between the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay and Kansas City-based NorthPoint Development. It is expected to create 2,600 construction jobs, 2,500 long-term jobs, and 7,000 indirect regional jobs. The project is years away from completion, with about five years of planning, design, and construction remaining, and requires securing more than $1 billion of the $2.3 billion total cost. |
