Description

The project includes development of 146 kilometers of highway connecting 18 municipalities in the regions of Antioquia, Caldas and Risaralda. The highway involves sections La Pintada-La Felisa; La Felisa-Irra; La Felisa-Asia; Asia-La Virginia; Tesalia by-pass; and Irra-Tres Puertas. It involves 24 kilometers of new two-way roadway between the Asia and Alexandria sectors, which include the 3.5 km of the Tesalia Tunnel in Functional Unit 2. Also, 31 km that make up Functional Unit 3 (La Manuela- Tres Puertas-Irra) and 15 km corresponding to Functional Unit 4 (Irra-La Felisa). Tesalia Tunnel is also part of the Pacific 3 highway concession. The tunnel involves development of a 3.5-kilometer-long dual carriageway which will reduce the travel time by 35 to 40 minutes in the region. The tunnel will connect Caldas, Risaralda, and Antioquia and provide access to main coffee production centers. The project aims to improve connectivity in the Coffee Axis region and strengthen its accessibility with rest of Colombia and the port of Buenaventura.
