Since 2021, KfW has been co-financing the Promotion of Professional Warrantage (PACTE) project, which is being implemented as part of the Mutual Reliance Initiative (MRI) together with the Agence française de développement (AFD) (lead financier). The additional financial resources PACTE+ from the special initiative A World Without Hunger are intended to benefit the current phase of PACTE, which runs until December 2024, and to enable the co-financing of a phase 2 - as part of an MRI with the AFD - from 2025. Core problem Low productivity in the agricultural sector due, among other things, to limited access to productive resources, which also hinders contractual relationships. Module objective The promotion of value chains through contract farming with the help of agroecological intensification in Burkina Faso. Components of the current phase 1. Access of producers to institutional markets; 2. Promotion of contract farming between cooperatives and agribusinesses, 3. Institutional support for the modernization of value chains. Key outputs - Financing of infrastructure investments - Financing of communication, awareness-raising and support measures. - Support of the Burkinabe government in planning and implementing the supported activities. Target group The target group of the project is farmers, farmers' cooperatives and agricultural businesses. At the same time, the project helps to facilitate trade in agricultural products by bundling the small-scale agricultural supply.
