Description | The Padma Barrage Project (PBP) is a large-scale infrastructure project aimed at constructing a 2.1 km barrage on the Padma River in Bangladesh. The project is designed to reduce salinity in the southwest, ensure year-round water supply to southwestern and northwestern regions, protect the Sundarbans ecosystem, generate around 113 MW of hydroelectricity, and supply water to critical installations including the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. The project is planned to be implemented in two phases, with the first phase focusing on core infrastructure construction and the second phase including additional infrastructure and river system restoration. |
