Description
Description | The project will develop and implement new non-formal education programs for school-age out of school children and vulnerableyouth/young adults through Community Learning Centers (CLCs). The core programs will be (1) Accelerated Learning Programs (ALPs)for out-of-school children in primary and secondary school ages, and (2) Integrated literacy and Skills (ILS) program forilliterate adolescents and young adults. To respond to the unknown and unpredictable emergency situation associated with Covid-19pandemic, the project offers flexible and three-level coping strategies to achieve the project outcomes besides the core projectapproach, and these options will be used depending on the emergency level declared by the federal and provincial governments, whichinclude: level 1 - implementing the learning at CLCs with safety measures; level 2 - teacher-led home-based schooling/ learning;and level 3 - home-based learning through teleteaching. The project will aim to benefit (i) 3,500 (2,100 girls) out-of-schoolchildren, including recent drop-outs due to COVID19, who would have little scope to resume their education at formal school withoutthe project’s support and (ii) 7,500 (4,500 girls) uneducated and illiterate adolescents and young adults. The project will operatein three districts in Punjab province and two districts in Sindh province, selected based on the low level of educationalattainment and human capital indicators. |
