The objective of the project is to improve competitiveness and sustainability of energy and water intensive manufacturing industries in Pakistan, by minimizing the sector's environmental footprint and lowering operational costs. This will be done through adoption of resource efficient technologies and practices which will lead to cost savings and operational efficiencies through reduced water, energy, chemical use and GHG emissions in energy and resource intensive industrial sub-sectors such as chemicals & fertilizers; construction materials; agribusiness; food processing; and textiles. The project includes two main components; 1. Engagement with factories and brands through advisory support to improve energy, water and chemical efficiency; and 2. Increasing awareness regarding environment and social benefits through workshops, seminars and/or dissemination of success stories and case studies to create a multiplier effect across the industry in adoption of cleaner production practices.
