Pakistan plans to build strategic petroleum reserves and expand commercial fuel storage through bonded terminals, refineries, and oil marketing companies to increase energy security and reduce vulnerability to supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz. The government aims to finalize the bonded storage framework by June and start allocations for strategic reserves from July 1, funded by a levy on petroleum. The plan also includes requiring refineries and oil marketing companies to hold minimum stock levels and developing an energy infrastructure corridor around Hub and Port Qasim.
