Description | The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will extend USD 330 million in debt for the expansion and upgrade of Pakistan’s power transmission network. The project will enable the transfer of up to 3.2 GW of hydropower to major load centres by installing a new 500-kV transmission line approximately 290 kilometres long and upgrading grid infrastructure feeding Islamabad and Faisalabad. The initiative aims to reduce reliance on imported fuels, enhance energy security, and support a transition to a more affordable and sustainable energy mix. National Grid Company of Pakistan Limited (NGC) will serve as the executing agency. |
