The company is involved in the purchase and distribution of fuel and is divided into three different divisions which carry out complementary activities: (i) Sanke Station: owns the stations and manages the purchase and distribution of fuel; (ii) Sanke Transport: brings to their final destination the products ordered by the company or its customers; and (iii) Sanke Transit: manages the company''s administration with the custom''s office when importing goods. The project consists in the purchase of 27 tank trucks to renew the existing fleet (89 trucks) and allow the company to gain new contracts and ensure the functioning of its new depot under construction. The development impacts of the project are expected to be:Supply of Fuel: The truck acquisition would help diversify and thus strengthen Mali’s supply of fuel.Employment Creation: 54 jobs would be created: 27 drivers and 27 apprentices would be hired.Revenues for the State: The company would be one of the largest tax and customs duty contributors to the State.IFC''s role in this project will be as:Lender of Last Resort: The project would support a local entrepreneur who up to now did not have access to long term financing.Support to Local Entrepreneur: Proparco, as the agent, has provided advice on the financial and managerial aspects of the company. It has also strengthened the company’s financial reporting by putting the sponsor in contact with an auditor. Lastly, Proparco has sensitized the sponsor to the importance of respecting the local regulations and in ensuring an on time supply of fuel to the final destinations.
