The pipeline will cross the isthmus of Panama, allowing fuel to be shipped from the Caribbean coast to the Pacific side for onward shipment to Asia. The project aims to recover and increase the volume of fuel transported through the Panama Canal, which has been declining. Construction is expected to start possibly in 2027, with preliminary cost estimates ranging from $2 billion to $8 billion depending on the gases transported. |
