The Project will: i. Strengthen transparency in public procurement, by supporting existing efforts to strengthen the availability of open data on public procurement, with an emphasis on - but not limited to - public infrastructure data; ii. Provide capacity building for data use, by generating capacity among relevant stakeholders on public procurement and infrastructure, so that they can use and reuse the data opened and published through the different access platforms in their analysis, dialogue and decision-making processes; iii. Increase accountability for Public Infrastructure Projects, since with more and better information available on investments in public infrastructure, the suggested project will facilitate specialized analysis of this information as well as public discussion of the findings, which will allow all stakeholders to work together to promote greater efficiency and effectiveness in infrastructure projects’ management. The Project’s primary beneficiaries will be public sector employees, media, academia, civil society organizations, and private sector firms engaged or interested in public sector contracts and infrastructure projects, as well as those active in the open data community. They will be the main users of the open and standardized data made available through the project. It is not an intention of the project's activities to directly contribute to the adoption of new or modified processes and procedures within the established procurement and public infrastructure projects. However, through improving availability of better data, building capacity for its analysis, and enabling a more active dialogue among key stakeholders in the sectors, the project aspires to create an enabling environment that contributes to such reforms.
