Description
Description | Papua LNG is based on development of the Elk and Antelope onshore fields in Gulf Province connected via onshore and offshore pipelines to new liquefaction trains at the existing PNG LNG location. The project involves several very large EPC contracts for upstream development, offshore pipelines, onshore pipelines, and three new electric liquefied natural gas trains. The project partners are TotalEnergies, ExxonMobil, Santos, and Eneos Xplora. The project has faced complexities and delays, with the final investment decision (FID) now targeted for the second half of 2026. The capex estimate has been reduced to between $14 billion and $15 billion from a previous estimate of $18 billion. The hot favorite for the LNG trains EPC contract is a joint venture of Japan's JGC and South Korea's Hyundai Engineering & Construction. |
