Description
Description | The Parandur Greenfield Airport project was a proposed airport development in Tamil Nadu, India, announced by the previous Stalin government. It was an ambitious project covering 13 villages and requiring thousands of hectares of land, with a project cost of ₹27,400 crore. The project faced protests from local farmers due to concerns over loss of farmland, livelihoods, and ecologically sensitive areas. The Vijay government shelved the project following an assessment by the Airports Authority of India, which found the site unsuitable for runway construction due to extensive wetlands and water bodies. |
