The project requires land acquisition of 5,369 acres across about 20 villages in Kancheepuram and Sriperumbudur. The project cost is estimated at Rs 27,400 crore for all four phases. The project was originally scheduled to complete land acquisition by October 2025 and start groundwork by January 2026, with phase I completion by December 2028. However, due to challenges in land acquisition, the project is likely to be delayed by a year, pushing completion to December 2029 or early 2030. Environmental Clearance is also expected to be delayed to next year due to the need for more ground-level data collection. |
