Description | NHPC Limited has resolved a decade-long leakage issue in the head race tunnel of the Parbati Hydropower Project Phase III in Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh. The nearly 7-kilometre-long underground tunnel faced persistent leakage problems for 10 years, severely impacting operations. The issue was permanently fixed using advanced waterproof geo-membrane technology by a Chennai-based engineering firm. The repair work was completed over three months at an estimated cost of ₹20 crore, allowing power generation to resume at the plant with a capacity of 520 MW. |
