The project is intended to provide structural support to the Namibian national park network and its supporting zones. One focus of the investment is in the restricted national park area, which also includes a marine part. The concepts successfully implemented as part of the North Eastern Parks project are to be adapted and applied. In addition, development measures and additional components will be implemented in the parks, resulting from increased tourist numbers and increasing poaching pressure. In order to improve the quality of resource management in northern Namibia, the establishment of an ecological institute will also be supported, which will carry out ecological monitoring measures as well as training rangers. Overall, the plan is to support the sponsor, the Namibian Ministry of the Environment, in implementing participatory park management and cross-border cooperation on nature conservation and tourism issues by providing infrastructure, equipment and consulting services. The FC financing share of the total project costs of around EUR 21 million is EUR 14.0 million.
