Park of Bridges

The project called “Park of Bridges” will be carried out in the cities of Zgorzelec and Görlitz which are located on both sides of the border river Nysa Łużycka. The complex revitalization of green areas comprise works to be performed in the A. Błachaniec Park in Zgorzelec. It is planned to design a new communication layout and to exchange the road surface on the existing one. Works will also cover elements of small architecture, the creation of a new fountain to replace the damaged one, and the restoration of a viewpoint. Within the city of Görlitz, the City Park, the Park of Peace and the Nysa Wharf will be revitalized. Under the revitalization of the City Park and its wharfs, it is planned to renew park pathways and steps, bushes and banks. Furthermore, pergolas, axes and view points will be restored, and new rose routes will be designed. The performance of the project will comprise an artistic installation which marks the location of the 15. meridian. It is planned to renovate a monument of Jakub Böhme in the Park of Peace, while the adjacent fountain will be connected to the water supply network. It is planned to develop the closest surrounding area in a new way. Furthermore, the entrance area and the access point to the River of Nysa will be renovated. The above mentioned activities will directly contribute to the implementation of the main objective and of the first specific objective of the project. The technical condition and appearance of historic park areas will improve, while their historic and cultural values will be restored. The above mentioned activities and their results will significantly contribute to the enhanced quality, and in consequence the increase interest of residents of the borderland and tourists in the environmental and cultural heritage of twinned cities of Zgorzelec and Görlitz.
