Description

Description

The Alaska Department of Transportation plans to upgrade and repair shared-use pathways on the Parks Highway and Old Nenana Highway. The project includes installing a separated bicycle path about 10 to 12 feet wide, widening shoulders by 2 to 5 feet, repainting gore striping for safety, realigning pathways to prevent vehicle intrusion, drainage improvements, replacing culverts and ditches, and clearing vegetation. The design will be incorporated into the planned Parks Highway/Sheep Creek Road Extension traffic signal project, which includes a continuous green-T signalized intersection with new signal poles, warning flasher sign, pedestrian island, relocated street lights, and medians separating traffic directions. Construction is planned for summer 2026 or 2027.
