Description
Description | Parliament for the Future of Europe (PaFutEU) connects the Conference on the Future of Europe with the elections to the European Parliament in 2024. The events take place in 6 member states: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Portugal and Slovenia. What unites these countries is a low voter turnout in the 2019-EP elections with a maximum of 37.6 percent. In 12 events, Parliament for the Future of Europe mobilises inactive citizens and vulnerable groups for the 2024 elections. In six 1-day Citizens‘ Panels, previously inactive citizens and vulnerable groups adapt the recommendations from the Conference on the Future of Europe to their specific needs. In the run-up to the EP-elections in March and April, the event series 'Get to know your candidate, get to know your constituents' provides opportunities for citizens to exchange views with 4+ candidates for the EP in their own language. Through positive democratic experiences, citizens feel that they can contribute to the EU’s civic and democratic life. The experience empowers citizens to use their democratic rights in the elections and boosters their long-term use of European civic‘ rights. The activities create awareness for barriers/ inaccessibilities. Citizens develop concrete proposals for a more inclusive EU. Proposals can taken up by the next EP, the Parliament for the Future of Europe. PaFutEU brings together 480 citizens from 7 countries. The events indirectly inform 1200 citizens about the elections and the project. PaFutEU reaches another 70,000 citizens online. The consortium accompanies all events on social media, with photos, videos and Feedback Catalogues. All partners and members of the collaborating alliance 'Citizens Take Over Europe' (CTOE) actively share content. Citizens Take Over Europe consists of more than 60 civil society organisations. All partners are invited to remain part of CTOE after the end of the project. |
