Description

Description

Since its launch in 1962, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) has undergone numerous reforms with significant changes over time and a shift in focus from agricultural production alone to a broader approach that includes rural development and sustainability. The new CAP reform proposed by the European Commission for the period 2023-27 has increased ambitions in terms of environmental and social sustainability, aligning with the objectives of the European Green Deal. However, several gaps are still evident in the full understanding of the role of agriculture in society and the key contribution that the agri-food sector makes to the EU economy in general, as well as in public awareness of how the EU supports this sector through its funding policies and programs, in particular the CAP. To fill these gaps, the ParteciPAC 22 project will promote actions to improve understanding of the growing importance of the role of the CAP in our ever-changing society, by implementing linear and interactive communication initiatives capable of engaging a growing number of citizens and by exploring green architecture and social dimension as fundamental pillars of the new EU policy. The project will focus on the younger generations (students and farmers), recognized as key players in the transition to the green and social economy. Overall, the project will improve citizens’ and farmers' awareness of the key role of the CAP by (1) providing target groups with the necessary basic knowledge and interpretative tools through a one-way transfer of general and more specific information and (2) by stimulating a participatory approach to knowledge building through continuous interaction and direct dialogue between civil society and farmers and between members of the same category, thus creating a community around the project that includes target groups, experts and stakeholders who share knowledge of the CAP and use resources in a virtuous way.
