Description
Description | The measure contributes to the sustainable management of natural resources as part of the national strategy to combat poverty (DC program objective) and promotes the preservation of the globally unique biodiversity in Madagascar. Through a further capital contribution to the environmental foundation Fondation pour les Aires Protégées et la Biodiversité de Madagascar (FAPBM), the project aims to contribute to the sustainable financial security of the Madagascan national park system and thus to the sustainable protection of Madagascar's sensitive ecosystems (project objective). The capital income from the foundation's assets will be used to cover part of the parks' running costs. The project is sponsored by the Madagascan FAPBM foundation. The direct beneficiary is the Madagascan national park system, managed by Madagascar National Parks (MNP) as the priority beneficiary of the foundation's income from the German FC funds. The residents of the protected areas benefit from the protection of the habitats and their economic potential, clear usage regulations and the development of tourism. With a contribution of EUR 30 million, of which EUR 22 million in Phase II and EUR 8 million in Phase III (VPT), the foundation capital of currently around EUR 47 million is to be significantly increased in order to cover a much larger share of the running costs of the extensive network of protected areas MNPs. |
