"The course ""Participatory democracy and multilevel governance in the EU (""EU-PartDemo"") is an academic discipline in which the basics of the theory of participatory democracy and the theory of multilevel governance, their interrelation, key elements, principles, basic concepts and forms of implementation in the EU are taught. This course stimulates students' interest to the EU and internal European integration reforms in Ukraine. It is aimed at popularizing the European constitutional values and spreading of knowledge on the peculiarities of European democratic governance.""EU-PartDemo"" is based on the idea that the strategic goal of Ukraine - the acquisition of EU membership - cannot be achieved without the implementation of the European values and standards, without broad involvement of citizens in solving public issues at all levels of public governance. EU-PartDemo"" highlights the main characteristics of modern constitutional democracy, focusing attention on its main traits in the conditions of globalization and interstate integration, characterizing democracy as a basic value and guiding principle of the reform for the EU. The course reveals the history of the EU practices in participatory democracy, governance and civil dialogue, defines the role of participatory democracy in the debate on the democratic legitimacy of the EU. Within this course, special attention is paid to the right of citizens to participate in the democratic life of the EU, in particular, the right to proper governance in the aspect of participatory democracy. ""EU-PartDemo"" enables students to understand the complicated constitutional order of the EU through the prism of the combination of participatory democracy and multilevel governance. "
