Pathways Alliance Carbon Capture Project

The Pathways Alliance is a consortium of Canada's six largest oil sands companies committed to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions from oil sands production by 2050. The project involves a 400-kilometre-long pipeline to transport captured carbon to an underground hub near Cold Lake, Alberta, aiming to reduce emissions by 22 megatonnes annually. Engineering, regulatory, and environmental tasks have been completed, with ongoing engagement with Indigenous and local communities. Regulatory applications were filed in 2024, including land applications and geological evaluations for carbon injection.
