Paulatuk Renewable Energy and Housing Efficiency Project

The Paulatuk Energy Working Group aims to make the community carbon neutral by harnessing wind and solar energy through wind turbines, solar panels, and a battery storage system. A critical part of the project is improving the energy efficiency of homes in Paulatuk, which are often drafty and inefficient, to prevent wasting clean electricity. The project includes a housing research initiative with the National Research Council and Housing N.W.T. to install devices in homes to collect data on fuel and electricity use, and plans to organize a housing and energy efficiency course to teach residents how to winterize homes and reduce energy demand.
