PCC DEG Renewables was planning the development of 5 small hydropower plants totaling 6MW. PCC DEG Renewables was a company owned by German energy company PCC SE as well as German development and investment company DEG, itself owned by KfW. The projects were on the Gradecka river. The first plant, Gradecka, was expected to be commissioned early 2013. Construction of the second and third plant (Patiska and Galicnik) started in December 2012. Commissioning was expected late 2013/2014. In June 2012, the developer signed a 20 year land lease with the government of Macedonia for the following two projects: Galicnik and Gradecka. The fourth plant, Brajcino, had its construction permit tendered in April 2012. The project were expecting to receive financing from the EBRD under an agreement signed in April 2011 for the Patiška, Galicnik 3, Brajcino 2 and Gradecka projects (EUR 6 million), but was unconfirmed.
