Description

Description

The project will renovate and expand a 250 m² former parish hall into a green and inclusive mixed-use community facility. This includes a 75 m² expansion and significant upgrades to make the building fully accessible and energy-efficient, with improvements such as wheelchair-accessible entrances, renovated bathrooms, solar panels and a new high-efficiency heat pump system. The facility will serve as a hub for arts, wellness, environmental, and heritage programming, benefiting youth, seniors, Indigenous communities, persons with disabilities, and underserved populations across the Killick Coast and Northeast Avalon region. This project is the first phase of a larger vision to develop a 60-acre creative cultural destination, fostering community, cultural growth, and environmental stewardship. The project will ensure accessibility, affordability, and engagement for all. Project planning started in September 2024. Construction will end and the building will reopen in March 2026.
